Down on the Southern Downs, where the country turns to grazing, horses and sandstone and the winters get genuinely cold. Warwick and the granite belt behind it are a different climate to the rest of our patch, and it shows up in what a container has to put up with.

Cold nights, and what they do inside the box
Warwick and Stanthorpe get real frost — a run of nights well under zero is normal, not remarkable. For steel storage the issue isn't the cold itself, it's the swing between a sunny afternoon and a freezing night. Warm moist air trapped inside condenses on the roof panel overnight and drips back down onto whatever you've stored. Leather tack, feed, paper records and anything with a steel edge all suffer for it.
The fix is airflow and desiccant, and it's cheap. Vents high on both end walls so air crosses the space instead of sitting in it, a hanging desiccant tub that you actually check, and pallets or a moisture barrier under everything on the floor. Do that and a container is drier through a granite belt winter than most sheds.
Horses, cattle and gear worth locking up
A lot of the Warwick district runs on livestock, and livestock gear is expensive, portable and attractive to the wrong sort of visitor. Saddles, rugs, electric fencing units, pumps, chainsaws — the sort of thing that fits in the back of a ute and never comes back. A container with a lock box welded on is the most cost-effective secure storage available, and it doesn't need power, a slab or a builder.
Put it where it's visible from the house rather than tucked out the back for neatness. That single decision does more for security than the padlock does.
Warwick gateways, grids and soil
Warwick town itself is straightforward — wide old streets laid out with room to spare, and most residential drops are a routine tilt-tray job. Out of town it changes: the country south and east towards Killarney and the border ranges gets steep and the tracks get narrow, and a sidelifter needs level ground under both sets of legs, not just under the wheels. On the granite belt the soil is shallower and firmer than the Downs black soil, which helps after rain, but rock ledges and tree cover cause their own trouble. A photo of the last hundred metres is worth more than any description.
