As-is grade: Buying as-is? Those units go as seen and carry no watertight promise. Only cargo-worthy and new single-trip stock is checked wind and watertight.
The small one. It fits behind a Toowoomba workshop on a quarter-acre block, into the corner of a town yard in Dalby where a 20ft can't be swung, or onto a house block in Oakey without eating the whole backyard.
On a property: Beside the house for the mower, whipper-snipper and fuel cans; tucked behind a town shop in Dalby or Oakey; a lock-up for tools on a small block where a truck can't swing anything longer.
The size most Downs buyers settle on. Header spares and a bench at one end, bagged seed at the other — or a household's furniture while the new place goes up. It travels on a standard tilt-tray, which keeps the drop simple.
On a property: Next to the machinery shed as the parts store; at the house paddock for furniture during a build; at the cattle yards for vet gear, drench and ear tags; in a town backyard for the boat gear and camping kit.
Double the floor of a 20ft without double the money. On a cropping place it becomes the bulk dry store — seed, bagged fert, points and tines, header belts — and the one owners usually say they should have bought first.
On a property: Along the back of the grain shed as a bulk dry store; at a feedlot as the workshop and parts room; on a broadacre block as the lock-up for everything that walks if it's left in an open bay.
The everyday dry box, and the right buy for most properties. Steel walls and roof, a timber floor, cargo doors across one end — and, in cargo-worthy or new grade, checked to keep the weather out.
A taller box — 2.69m inside instead of 2.39m. That gap is what lets a person work upright at a bench, a pallet of seed sit on top of another, or a vent go in high on each end to bleed off the overnight sweat.
Purpose-built chemical stores for spray, fuel, oil and workshop solvents — vented walls and a bunded floor to catch a leak. Plenty of yards never stock them; on the Downs they're everyday kit, so we keep them on hand.
