Shipping containers Cecil Plains

Deep black soil on the Condamine floodplain, and some of the most productive irrigated country in Queensland. Cotton, grain and very flat ground — which is excellent for farming and creates one very specific delivery problem.

What they get used for around Cecil Plains

Around Cecil Plains it's mostly irrigation fittings, poly and pumps kept out of the sun, cotton season equipment, chemical in bunded compliant units, and workshop stores on operations big enough that a trip to town is a lost half-day. Any of those we can price today. Tell us the use and the address and you'll have a delivered figure and a realistic timeframe in the same conversation.

Guide pricing only, ex GST — what you pay delivered depends on where you are and what's in the yard that week. Ring (07) 4516 5999 and we'll give you a real number, not a range. What you're quoted for a Cecil Plains address already has the delivery in it.

Flat country, and where you put the box

On genuinely flat ground the usual advice about putting a container on the high point of the block stops being useful, because there isn't one. What matters instead is the drainage pattern you already know — where the water sits after a big fall, where the tail drain runs, which end of the headland stays wet for two days after everything else has dried.

Keep the unit clear of every one of those spots, and stand it on packing regardless. Steel sheds weather falling on it; it does nothing at all about water climbing the outside. Once a rise gets to the seals the interior fills, and a box that good at excluding rain is equally good at retaining what has already got in. On floodplain country that is not theoretical, so it deserves a proper think before delivery day rather than a lesson after one.

Chemical storage that survives an audit

Irrigated cropping runs on a lot of chemical, and the shed corner is not where it should be sitting. Compliant dangerous goods containers are ventilated, bunded and lockable, and they turn an ongoing compliance risk into something you can point at.

The part that has to be right is the specification. What a unit must provide depends on which classes are going in it and in what quantity, and an under-specified one will not survive an audit — that is a finding against your operation, not a warranty claim. Read us the labels off the shelf and we will work back from there.

What the truck needs at Cecil Plains

The soil here is the deepest, blackest, most self-mulching country we deliver into, and it's superb until it gets wet. A loaded truck on saturated Cecil Plains soil doesn't get stuck slowly — it goes down, and it stays down. We watch the weather on this run more closely than anywhere else on the Downs and we'd far rather push a delivery back a week than turn a purchase into a recovery operation. Irrigation is the other thing: a headland that's just been watered is as bad as one that's just been rained on. Tell us the irrigation schedule and we'll work around it.

Aside from the local quirks, it comes down to footing, approach length and headroom. When one of those looks borderline, a photo or two decides it before anyone books a vehicle. Full detail in what we need to get a container onto your block.

Cecil Plains — common questions

Can you deliver onto black soil at Cecil Plains?

Yes, when it's dry — and we're direct with people about when it isn't. Saturated black soil will stop a loaded truck cold. Tell us about recent rain and your irrigation schedule and we'll pick a day that works rather than gamble on it.

Will a container keep chemical stored legally?

A compliant dangerous goods unit will — ventilated, bunded and built for the purpose. A standard general-purpose container is not the same thing. Tell us the DG class and the volume and we'll match the right unit before you order.
